Reserve Policies
| Check-out Policy: Reserve material can be checked out to students who are currently enrolled and present a barcoded ID card. If a patron has overdue books or owes Library fines or fees, he/she may not check out reserve items. Library staff will not hold Reserve material for patrons. |
| Loan Periods for Reserve Material: Loan periods for Reserve material are determined by the course instructor. All Reserve material should be returned to the Reserve Desk after use. |

| Laptop Computers and Equipment |

| Reserve Room Fine Policy: Fines on overdue Reserve material are $.50 an hour or for any part of an hour. The maximum fine for print material is not to exceed $35.00. Fines for laptop computers are $4.00 an hour or for any part of an hour for new laptops, and $2.00 for old computers. Maximum fines for electronic equipment will not exceed the cost of the equipment. Fines are not generated during the hours the Reserve Room is closed. Faculty/Staff and part-time faculty are fine exempt. |
| Faculty who are no longer affiliated with the University: If a former faculty member who is no longer affiliated with The University of Texas-Pan American has material that has not been removed from Reserve status, the material will be sent back to the department in which the instructor was working. The Library will not mail material to any other address. |
| Placing new items on Reserve: Faculty Request Cards are obtained from the Reserve Room (3rd Floor East). Material is accepted during operating hours. Material sent via mail will not be accepted. The instructor is responsible for supplying the Library with the following: |

| It is the responsibility of faculty to renew Reserve materials every semester. Items not renewed will be returned to faculty offices |
| Material will be processed Monday - Friday (8 a.m. - 5 p.m.). Material is processed on a first come, first served basis, and requires a maximum of 24 hours to process. A UTPA barcoded ID card is required to process material. If you need a barcode, please stop by the Circulation Desk to obtain one. One Faculty Request Card per title must be filled out by the instructor. The Library is not responsible for errors on Faculty Request Cards. |
