How do I find if the Library has a book

A book may be found if you know and enter one of the following: title, author, subject, or call number.

1. Go to the Library web page and select Library Catalog under the Research Heading.

2. You may search for a book by selecting one of the following:

  • Title - Enter the title of the book. Do not enter the words the, or at the beginning. The title of the wanted book will appear along with similar titles before and after it. If the book is not in the Library the title will appear with the words " your entry ... would be here- search as words".
  • Author- Enter the author's name with the last name first except for names of organizations that  are entered in normal word order.
  •  Subject - Enter a subject word such as a Library of Congress heading to find a book. The headings may be found in "Library of Congress Subject Headings" book in the reference area with the call number of Ref 695 .L695.
  •  Keyword Search - You can enter any words to find books that have the words in the record.
  •  Call Number - You can enter the Library of Congress, or Superintendent of Documents call number in the lower left corner.
  •  Author/Title - You may enter both the author and title of the book. Both must be entered.
