What is Research 101?
  • An introduction to research skills for new students.
  • A refresher course for current and returning students.
  • A tool to help students use library resources more efficiently.

What does it cover?
  • How to select a topic
  • How to develop a research question.
  • How to search for information.
  • How to use different types of information.
  • How to evaluate sources.
  • and more...

There are 6 units in this tutorial (see buttons above), each with its own set of objectives, information, and exercises. We recommend that you start with "The Basics."  You can always return to this page by clicking on the Research 101 button in the upper left-hand corner of each screen.

Several units have worksheets that can be filled out as you proceed through the tutorial. You may print these for future reference, or your instructor may ask you to turn them in as part of an assignment. You may also bring a copy with you to the library for help with your project.
